Pines and larch. I shovel snow over the pots to insulate. If I have time I brush of the snow, if not it's also fine to leave it.

A picture tells a thousand words. This one about 500... Anyway, I put the trees closely together and shovel snow over them to insulate and watering when the temperature rises. Last year I probably watered them 3-4 times during the winter. All the trees are planted in very open substrate so the frost is no problem. It's the drying winds that kills them or takes the top of.
