I had to cut back the thick roots a lot to make them fit in to a properly sized container, but there were more than enough roots so it was not a problem, and with this species one can cut back really hard with no problems.
Here it is in the new pot.

And here it is after a rough shaping. It didn't turn out all that bad after all. It looks much better than I would have guessed when it was crammed in with the other trunk. I expect a lot of new branches to develop from the trunk next spring so I can fill in the holes in the design.
