It had lots and lots of flaky bark that I pealed off and it became clear that it was 2 trunks and not one. For some stupid reason I didn't break the two trunks apart, but planted them in the same pot instead.
It grew well all summer.
Before the snow and cold came, I put the tree in my bonsai studio, not because it needed winter protection but because I wanted to work on it during winter.
Here I have just started work by pulling the two trees more apart so it's easier to see what they look like and I have cut off some unnesessary branches.
Next step is to carve the stumps....As you can see the tree to the right has a very interesting trunk and will be a good tree in time.
